In the past four years, she has been the artistic director of Restless Dance Company, an Adelaide-based youth dance company working with people with and without a disability. In 2006, Kat is on maternity leave from Restless, but is running workshops at Blue Doors studio in Willunga (see below).

In recent years, Kat’s focus has been ‘Community Dance’. She has worked in Australia and overseas with communities and people of all ages, abilities and disabilities across drug and alcohol, mental health, women’s health, education, justice and hospital settings. Kat uses dance and movement as a creative way for people to express, connect, develop and understand themselves in the world. “What I do is certainly not therapy”, says Kat, “but it is therapeutic. My work is dance based, so the artform has high priority in every area of my work, from a community dance workshop to directing a major performance piece. I work with the individual, though, not the ‘steps’ as I believe every ‘body’ can dance and no matter how much experience, each person has something to offer when making dance.” Kat’s choreographic style reflects her process, as each performer remains an individual in her works and it is obvious that the performers have been involved as co-creators.

In 2006 Kat is teaching improvisation and creative dance for adults and parents and babies at the Blue Doors Studio in Willunga.
