You don't have to be an artist, performer or even naturally creative to get involved. The Arts and Cultural Committee (ACC) is open to anyone keen to promote and participate in arts and cultural events with the village.
Art forms a strong part of the natural landscape at the village and projects are designed to reflect the aesthetic and functional needs of the community and the land.
A few key ACC aims are to:
- have an active role in the development of the village
- encourage, initiate and support artistic ideas and projects involving villagers and community on and off site
- coordinate arts and cultural events and activities on site
- apply for funding for arts related projects

EXAMPLES OF ACC PROJECTS
Celebration Event - October 2002. This was the first village event open to the public. Held near Lorenzin Hall, the event had music, food and activities for children. This was the first event that villagers celebrated together. A time capsule was buried containing villager’s hopes and wishes for the village.
SALA Exhibition 2003. A celebration of art and music by Village artists as part of the SALA Program. The 10 - day exhibition included paintings, ceramics, prints, photography, sculpture, jewellery, fire sculpture, sound installation and music performances. Artists involved: Sally Bell, Charlie Carpenter, Violet Carpenter, Justin de Leeuw, Ilona Dickson, Stefan Glockner, Lillian Hardington, Heidi Karo, Vivienne Newcombe, Bridget O’ Donnell, Barbara Powell, Suzanne Randles.
Peace One Day screening -International Film Festival 2005. As part of the Adelaide International Film Festival, Jeremy Gilley, ‘Peace One Day’ Director from the UK, visited the village and screen and discuss his film about International Peace Day and the Peace One Day movement.
Retro Surf Night - 2005
Tour Down Under – 2002 to 2007. In celebration of the Annual Tour Down Under bike race the ACC committee decorates the Port Road boundary with flags and have sat and cheered under a gazebo for some of the races.
Street Scape – 2005 Project part funded by the City of Onkaparinga. The Streetscape Project part one involved creating a ’Tucker Trail’ path outside the Port Road entrance to the village. Edibles including Fig, Mulberrry and Quandong have been planted along the path. The project also involved mosaic workshops with villagers as well as school children and community at the Retro Surf Night to create a series of mosaic cobble stones with the theme of edible plants, to line the path. Stage Two is planned to continue the path towards the third entrance.
Echidna Lantern – July 2006 Project part funded by the Willunga Almond Blossom Festival. The Village was invited to participate in the lantern walk at the Almond Blossom Festival. Justin de Leeuw led a workshop with villagers to create a giant echidna lantern (see picture on our Home Page.
Roth Web December 2006 Project part funded by City of Onkaparinga. The Roth Web was created by Evelyn Roth with villagers and community members. It is a recycled thread finger knitted climbing structure for children.
