Development of our Community involves both social factors (community “glue”), and also the infrastructure that facilitates social and task-focused interactions (e.g., community buildings and facilities).

The social side of development is facilitated by the Community Development Committee (CDC) co-ordinated in 2009-10 by Jacqui Good.

Interested in helping to promote social activity in the village? Why not let Jacqui know.

The infrastructure side is facilitated through the “Heart of the Village” Committee (VHC) co-ordinated in 2009-10 by Kevin Chan. It comprises two subgroups: the Community House Design Group (preparing for construction of a major new Community Building) and the Village Heart Group (concerned with renovation and use of existing inherited farm buildings as interim community facilities).

Like to participate in planning and building community facilities? Please let Kevin know.

How we see community development at AAEV

The philosophy of our Village community is based on ‘three pillars’ – social systems, economic systems, and bio/environmental systems. The Community Development volunteers are a group of people excited about the challenge of the ‘human factor’, and the building of positive energy through social design and facilitation of community “glue”. The groups meet as required by the various tasks.

In terms of our overall Community vision – “Caring for the Earth; caring for people; living creatively together” – the Community Development area is focused on ‘caring for people’ and ‘living creatively together’. The objective is to explore and design ways in which we can live and work together fostering the essence of ‘authentic’ community. Contributions include: holding social events, workshops and discussion forums, promoting the development of physical infrastructure to enhance social interaction, and developing policy suggestions for the smooth running of social systems and community-enhancing infrastructure. The task is an ongoing journey as issues and relationships develop during the growth and evolution of the Village.

We see the community development tasks as vital because they promote the formation of that important social ‘glue’ that will enrich our lives and bind us together over time. We are always looking for new members and fresh ideas.
