Committee
The AAEV Governance team has been tasked to
research and trial governance models to increase
the effectiveness of the Village’s management.
Through this process Sociocracy otherwise known
as ‘Dynamic Self Governance’ has been chosen as
the preferred model to recommend to the Village
for adoption and trial.
Sociocracy is a new method of governance that creates more inclusive and efficient organisations and importantly is based on consent and collaboration as a foundation for decision making and communication.
In other words, it allows an organisation to manage itself efficiently while incorporating the wisdom of every member. Sociocracy utilises four principles derived from systems theory which guide groups of people to self-organise. Moreover, it is a self-organised system that results is dynamic, rejuvenating and provides a framework for:
- honouring the viewpoint of every member
- promoting egalitarian relationships
- encouraging active leadership, and
- developing individual and group discipline
Recently, three members undertook training (two members kindly funded by the Onkaparinga Council) to finalise our research task. Now the participants would like to share this experience and communicate to the village what is sociocracy, how might it work in our community.
What: Information session on Sociocracy
Where: Aldinga Bowling Club (to be confirmed)
When: Saturday 7th June”, 3- 5pm
