Booking Community Facilities for private use

The Community Development Committee (CDC) has developed a 'Booking Form' for private use of any of our common facilities (e.g., the Sharing Shed and Pizza Oven.

You can find the form in either PDF or ‘doc’ format on the Documents page of the Members Only section of the Website (items 3 & 4 on the list) at:
http://www.aaev.net/page146/private_documents/index.html

Please book through Elizabeth as usual to reserve your time slot, and email me your booking form/agreement (address on form).  We require this form to returned to us before bookings can be confirmed.

Volunteers are at the heart of our community!

Can you see yourself working in a volunteer role to help the village run smoothly?

The benefits and rewards include:
- feeling like real part of the village community
- meeting new villagers and new friends
- helping to create the village you want to live in
- stopping our levies rising
- helping existing volunteers who have been doing these jobs for some time

Here are just some of the roles / jobs done by community volunteers in past 12 months:
- Organising the AGM
- Organising the Christmas Party and other social events
- Neighbourhood Group meetings and Working Bees
- Running the Waste Water Treatment Plant
- Maintenance of the Sharing Shed and other areas of the village

For lots of others, see the ATTACHED list.

At the AGM, there will be a short presentation about volunteering, and an opportunity to ask more about the various committee and tasks.

Do have a think about becoming a community volunteer. We hope you will!

Sandpit success!

The new sandpit out the south of Clematis Walk, beside the other play equipment, was dug, filled and cobbled this week!  Well done to all who helped and many thanks too.

A special thanks goes to Nonie, who lives at 2 Clematis Walk, as she paid for the majority of the sand, with a little top up from Community Development Committee (CDC).

It has been full of kids since completion - as the pics show - and a great gathering spot for some parents too - what a wonderful place in which to grow up and live!

Please - no dogs at Village gatherings

On behalf of the Community Development Committee, I would like to request that all villagers and their visitors leave their animals at home when we have village gatherings.  This is because of the perceived safety and comfort of people.  For example, we have someone in the village who is terrified of dogs and it would be unbearable for them if a dog was present.

Thank you for understanding, and we thank you for leaving you animals at home at these times.

Village Community Support Contact

Don't forget - if you need support to help with sickness, crisis, emergency transport, or other difficulties and don't know who to ask, or if you just need someone to talk to and don't know where to turn, call Gillian Clampett, our Community Support Contact, who can help you find the support you need - Phone: 8556 5998 or 0429 690 004.

New Village Support Liaison role

At its last meeting, the CDC decided that it would be beneficial to have someone designated to check up on, and sensitively handle, personal support situations within the community - such as a need for help or understanding during illness, bereavement, etc. Then there is also the desire of community members to know in a timely manner of any other villager's need for help or understanding - and not find out on the 'grapevine' long after the support could have been used.

Often we would like to help those we know could probably use it, but are inhibited by concerns about their privacy - we don't know whether they want the situation widely recognised or not. On other occasions, we would like to ask for help ourselves during a personal difficulty or crisis but are hesitant to do so for fear of being thought a nuisance or a whinger.

That's where the support Liaison role comes in - as someone you can go to if you have concerns about a fellow villager needing help, or if you need help yourself but are hesitant to broadcast it. They can then discreetly and sensitively check up on the person you have become concerned about, or let others know for you that you could use some help or understanding.

Many thanks to Gillian Clampett who has very kindly consented to take on this new role.

So - for those personal situations where you want know if someone needs help, or if you would like some help or understanding yourself, have a chat with Gillian at 8 Yacca Way or phone 8556 5998
