- If anyone would like a badge made for them, please email me and we'll do it (I have some names already so no need to ask if you have asked already!)
- Also, we would love some more materials eg glue gun, stickers, sparkles etc etc. Please bring along to share if you can.
- Morning tea will be provided - if anyone wishes to contribute by making some cake/biscuits, that'd be lovely. Please let me know if you can help so that we don't over/under cater.

Next Village Social - 10 September
02/09/10 16:30
The next Village Social will be on Friday
10 September at the home of Michael and
Jill Wilson. Watch the News Feed for more details
closer to the event.
Our Village social - What a fun night!
16/08/10 17:54
Thanks so much to Wayne and Jenny for hosting the
'Happy Hour' social on Friday; it was a
hoot! Jenny suggested that we take along an
old or interesting / funny photo of
ourselves. Around 40 people turned up and I
think everyone brought a photo! it was
hilarious! Hoots of laughter could be heard
all evening!
As always, there was so much beautiful food on offer too. It's reassuring to know that we do not have to take food to every Social; just turn up yourself if you are not able to prepare food for whatever reason; there's always plenty. It's one of the many wonderful things about living in the village - shared responsibility. Bit different on pizza night - we usually take our own pizza.
If you've not been to one of our Village social events before, or haven’t been for a while, the next one is our regular Pizza Night beside the Sharing Shed, on the last Friday of the month - this month on 27 August from 6pm onwards.
Any questions about social events, please contact me, on behalf of the Community Development Committee (CDC) 8556 6459 or email.

Peace Day comes to Pizza Night in September
16/08/10 17:44
Because Peace Day (21 September) falls in the
same week as this month’s regular Pizza Night (24
September) we will be combining the two
celebrations on Friday 24
September.
We will be showing the movie “Peace One Day” - the documentary of the story of Jeremy Gilley's attempts to persuade the global community via the United Nations to sanction officially a day without conflict; a ceasefire day; a global day of Peace.
The Pizza Night will start at 5.30 with the movie being shown in the Sharing Shed at 7pm (running for 80 minutes). Please bring a bean bag if you wish
We are also inviting villagers and friends to write a message of peace and to pin it onto a piece of fabric that we (CDC) will provide. We will also have pieces of card, pens and pins if you wish to write it on the night, otherwise please bring something along with you.
Any queries, please contact me on 8556 6459 or email.

NVC Workshop for Villagers
12/08/10 17:22
Nonviolent Communication
(NVC) Workshop for Villagers - 4
September
Please see ATTACHED flyer and registration form.
I am offering an initial 1-day workshop introduction to Nonviolent Communication (NVC) to our Village community. NVC is an effective and easy to learn communication strategy, that will benefit all communications in home, community and business life. Many of our villagers have already done training in NVC. This 1-day workshop will cover the basics of NVC with the view of offering a second day training in the last school term of this year, to further build our skills.
What I find is unique to the way we live in our Village community is the very fact that we don’t have fences and commonly share community space with all. So the need to be able to reconcile differences is paramount to us and our children's lives as our community is also our home.
Also as a parent I have found NVC invaluable to developing a healthy communicative relationship within our family, (particularly as a parent of a teenager!!!) and now see the benefits of this being passed on to my son for his own life and future.
I look forward to sharing this with you.

Meals roster - any new people like to join?
05/08/10 15:32
On behalf of the Community Development Committee
(CDC), I'd like to ask if perhaps anyone would
like to be added to the Meals Roster list?
We provide meals for people in times of need
(births, deaths, illness etc etc). You may
be asked to provide one meal only. It's a
lovely thing to do for people and is always so
appreciated.
If you wish to be added to the list, for future rosters, please email me. (Existing people on the list need not reply.)
Thanks - Jacqui G

Working Bee for Name Badges - 4 Sept
19/07/10 17:28
Working Bee to make Community Name Badges
- Saturday 4 Sept, 10am
Morning Tea provided!
The CDC (Community Development Committee) are organising a working bee to make name badges for us to use at community gatherings as there are now so many of us!
We thought that hand made badges would be more beautiful and appropriate for the village rather than computer generated 'conference style' ones. We would like to ask people to come and make their own badge if they wish. Children are encouraged to make their own too. We could use different materials and styles (slices of wood, fabric etc).
The working bee will make badges for the people who do not wish to make their own. These are not just for village residents but for any lot owner who comes to any social events or meetings etc.
Please email me - by Wednesday 1 September - if you would like us to make you a name badge. If we don’t hear from you, we'll assume that you'd like to make your own.
It would be great to have them made and in use for the AGM in September. These finished badges will be stored in the Sharing Shed between uses.
Any queries, email me or call on 8556 6459.
Many thanks - Jacqui Good - for CDC

Please - no dogs at Village gatherings
20/05/10 17:32
On behalf of the Community Development Committee,
I would like to request that all villagers and
their visitors leave their animals at home when
we have village gatherings. This is because
of the perceived safety and comfort of
people. For example, we have someone in the
village who is terrified of dogs and it would be
unbearable for them if a dog was present.
Thank you for understanding, and we thank you for leaving you animals at home at these times.

Reminder about dogs and food events
04/02/10 17:22
As we have a number of new villagers moving in,
it is a good time for a reminder about
“petiquette”.
Village events that involve food and/or children need to be dog-free, so please leave your dog at home for all such events.
(And if you are a smoker, please leave your smokes at home too. The Village has a “no smoking on common spaces” policy.)
We want to see everybody from oldest to youngest enjoying Village events - it sometimes needs just a little consideration of what’s enjoyable to all.

14/01/10 16:12

sickness, crisis, emergency transport, or other

New Village Support Liaison role
03/11/08 16:29
At its last meeting, the CDC decided that it
would be beneficial to have someone designated to
check up on, and sensitively handle, personal
support situations within the community - such as
a need for help or understanding during illness,
bereavement, etc. Then there is also the desire
of community members to know in a timely manner
of any other villager's need for help or
understanding - and not find out on the
'grapevine' long after the support could have
been used.
Often we would like to help those we know could probably use it, but are inhibited by concerns about their privacy - we don't know whether they want the situation widely recognised or not. On other occasions, we would like to ask for help ourselves during a personal difficulty or crisis but are hesitant to do so for fear of being thought a nuisance or a whinger.
That's where the support Liaison role comes in - as someone you can go to if you have concerns about a fellow villager needing help, or if you need help yourself but are hesitant to broadcast it. They can then discreetly and sensitively check up on the person you have become concerned about, or let others know for you that you could use some help or understanding.
Many thanks to Gillian Clampett who has very kindly consented to take on this new role.
So - for those personal situations where you want know if someone needs help, or if you would like some help or understanding yourself, have a chat with Gillian at 8 Yacca Way or phone 8556 5998

we need as many ideas as possible.
